I thought this was an amazing statement…it’s in response to a post I’d written over at Chocolate Brides:
Great post! My husband (of eighteen years) and I did something that runs counter to tradition: we got married at the justice of the peace and have worked hard to stay happily married ever since. If given the chance to do it over, I’d do the same thing with the same person. That’s not to say that marriage is easy! It is really, really hard. But always keep in mind that you want your home to be a place of peace, strength, and love. We must fortify ourselves at home in order to have the courage to face the cruelties of the outside world. I wish all of you new brides the best — and don’t lose sight of what’s really important.
That’s advice ladies…from someone who’s been doing it for years! She’s telling us that marriage is hard work, but it’s worth it. That’s encouraging to me in a day when so many folks are down on marriage or talk about the divorce statistics. I love this statement!!
