Our flower girl is a cutie and is looking forward to getting all dressed up for the wedding…but she’s six so she didn’t really know what all of the fuss was about.  She didn’t really get what “engaged” was or why she should be excited that we asked her to do this.

Then she heard she had to walk down the aisle and got a bit nervous.  So we got her a book about being a flower girl and went through it with her a few times, so now she at least understands what a “rehearsal dinner” is and that she’s going to have to take lots of pictures on the wedding day.  Here’s the book we got:

It came with a little necklace which is pretty cute.  We’re doing gifts at our rehearsal dinner and I’m thinking of getting her this cute tshirt from my fave…Zazzle:

That’s a screen shot because the site wouldn’t let me copy directly.  I thought this was pretty cute.  Do you have a nervous flower girl?  Any advice for us?  What about cute gifts…have you seen any cheap (but cutesie) gifts for a six year old girl?

That shirt is adorable! The flower girl for my brother in law’s wedding was 4 and she did really well. They had her practice the night before at the rehearsal dinner so she wouldn’t get stage fright.

Yeah, she’s all excited about the rehearsal dinner because she heard she gets a gift, lol!

I also think it is a good idea to have the flower girl practice at the venue the DAY OF. Remember, kids are a trip. They will be in a good mood at the rehearsal and be a totally different person the next day. Get her dressed early and have someone take her for another whirl down the aisle the day of. Ask her if she remembers what she did the night before and have her do it again. She’s old enough to be able to do it, but you want to make sure she doesn’t get stage fright at showtime!

That’s not a bad idea…I’m just worried that when she sees all of those people, she’ll be looking for somebody’s leg to hide behind!

I haven’t really thought about my flower girls yet but I did find this puzzle that I love:

One of my flowergirls LOVES puzzles so she’s going to get this and the other, not really sure yet. In regards to the girls being nervous, I think practice and also ensuring that a parent or someone they’re close to sits in the front so they can focus on that person as they walk.

Oh, that is TOO cute! And I like that idea of having her mom sit up in the front row so that they can focus on each other…that’s good!
