So The Mister and I got together the other day and put together our vision board.  What’s that you ask?  A visual representation of what you want to happen in your future.  Like if  you want to live on the ocean in a beautiful house, find a picture of that house on the ocean.  Or if you want to lose weight find a picture of the physique you want to have.

Then you go through magazines and find pictures of that stuff and put them on a poster or foam board.  After that, pray over it.  Some folks say that just by putting it out there that you’ll “attract” those things into your life…but I believe in prayer.  Anyhoo, here’s ours:

If you click on it, you can see it better.  But starting top left and going down and around:  money stuff…getting out of debt, saving, investing, getting rich; then babies; getting/staying fit; traveling the world…pics of different places we’d like to go; a car The Mister wants; and then some motivational quotations.  There are also a couple of Bible verses on there.  I’d done a vision board back when I lived in H-Town and put these on there and loved them (as a matter of fact, getting married was on my vision board back then!), so used them again.

Have you and your hubby/fiance done anything like this?

I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’ve heard of it and I think it’s a nice idea!

Your beautiful story this morning certainly brought a smile to this face. Sweet, sweet, sweet. Belated Congratulations, and God bless you in all your endeavors, dreams and wishes. May all your prayers be answered for sure!
I just wanted to add, the vision board will be a new beginning in our home soon, for me and my husband. The idea is fantastic! I can’t wait to get started. Thank you so much for the idea, as thoughts go through my mind so swiftly, I write a lot, and they get scattered from pad to pad, room to room, this way I can start my way of being a more organized thinker! Much love in your lives.
    Sincerely,
    Debra L. Parr

I’ve heard of vision boards but yours is the first I’ve seen. Very inspirational. Thank you for sharing. I am going to have to try that.

Hello Mrs. Dawn I think that is a beautiful idea I belive that your pastor is right sometimes we have to have a vision pray on it and speak it in to existence because prayer changes this

This is awesome! Sometimes I hesitate to suggest things like this to my hubby b/c he thinks they’re kinda corny, but this one he’ll HAVE to do. For me. For us. Thx :o)

    • I’m glad you liked it! Like I said, I did it before when I was single, but it’s totally different with someone else with whom you’re trying to build a life and a future. It was a cool process.

Hi, it’s Debra. This is a darn stupid question, but how do I change this mean looking little person that comes up when I write. I am a smiling happy woman! Now I do have photos where I have posed, I wont lie, without a smile to try to look sort of sexy, or attractive to my husband… It did not work. He thought I was worried. LMFO… But if anyone can tell me, I am pretty darn good with the puter, and will change this mean lookin liitle person. I like happy. hahahahahahahaha. I know it’s a trivial little issue, sort of nutty, but that’s me. Debra. Mrs. Dawn. You have glasses, and so do I. You are a sunshine, I know that’s right! I don’t shine everyday, but, I do want a smile. Can you help me. Debra

      • Sounds like your hubby loves you whether you’re sunny or cloudy…and that’s a good thing!

  7. I’ve always wanted to do one of these and never gotten around to it. I am sure the fiance will think it’s corny, but I am gonna do it anyway. He will just have to get on board!

I’m liking the photos in the bottom left hand corner of your vision board 😉

  9. I am super inspired by this!

My husband’s step-mother did this, and I loved hers. Between the two of you ladies, I am definitely feeling the idea.

Yes, thank you for posting this! It actually inspired me to post mine today on my blog. Hopefully, others will get onboard. I so believe that we are co-creators of our life, with God. But as you mention, we need a vision.

  11. I’ve heard Nina Brown from http://www.iamninabrown.com talk relentlessly about Vision Boards, she even has a Vision Board brunch twice a year I think.

And I’m with you, I believe in prayer and believing God but the more I hear and see about these vision boards the more I think they are an excellent idea. Our minds think in pictures.

Do you remember in the Bible when God told Abram that he would give him lots of kids (Genesis 12), the next thing He did was give Abram something to look at. First he changed his name to Abraham (which is translated basically “man with many kids”) then he took him outside and gave him a visual saying, “look at the stars and try to count them- that is how many children you will have, look at the grains of sand and try to count them, this is how your seed will be.”

Yes, I think I’m convinced. Thank you. Thea and I will be doing a vision board AND writing a blog inspired by YOU! I’ll be sure to give you a shout out!
